News Group Newspapers Ltd 5th July 2018 16:07:54 Cycle chain maker Cycles.com has unveiled its brand new BTR-100, a lightweight chain from BTR, which is being designed for use on bikes that can only carry 50kg (110lbs).
The chain is a two-piece aluminium alloy chain with a carbon fibre upper and lower section that is threaded to hold the chain’s teeth in place.
“We have a very specific philosophy and approach to making high-quality, high-tech chain products,” said founder and CEO Andrew Taylor.
“We are confident that we can deliver a high-performance chain that is the envy of the cycling world.”
The chain has a standard steel design and features a three-speed drivetrain.
It also features a front and rear derailleur to allow for the chain to be used with an electronic chain controller.
Taylor said the chain could be ridden in three different configurations, but said that there were several advantages to the design: “One is it is very light, but also because it is designed for cycling and it does not compromise on the durability and performance of the chain,” he said.

BTR said the BTR chain is the only chain that can be used on all types of bicycles.
“Our new B-100 chain is built for cyclists who want the performance, durability and lightweightness of a chain that will perform, yet is still strong enough for everyday use,” said Taylor.
The BTR team also revealed a new aluminium frame with carbon fibre tubes, which will be available to order in the next few weeks.
BTR says it has been working with the manufacturers to create the new chain for a long time and said it is confident in the technology behind the chain.
It is also looking at using the chain on bikes with aluminium frames to improve the balance of the bike.
