The first of three baby bicycle seats is set to be introduced in India by a private company, according to media reports.
The seat will be manufactured by Indian bicycle manufacturer Bajaj Industries.
Bajaja Industries has an exclusive licence to manufacture baby bicycle helmets.
Baja Industries is also the only bicycle manufacturer in the country that makes bicycle helmets made of recycled materials.
Bajaj has a reputation as a bicycle helmet manufacturer that has been producing safety helmets since 2007.
In 2013, the company won a global award for its helmet design and technology.
The baby seat is made from the same material as its helmet and features a padded base with elastic straps that can be adjusted.
The headgear is designed to fit a newborn baby with a maximum head circumference of 30 centimetres (9 inches) from head to foot.
It can accommodate newborns up to 5 months old and will not impede the movement of the head and neck.
Baja Industries said the seat is being tested in India and it will be available to the public in the near future.
