Amazon has announced that it has purchased a drone startup to help build a new fleet of drones.
The company said it will build a fleet of 500 drones for its warehouses in a bid to boost its delivery service.
The new fleet will be called Amazon Robotics.
Amazon says the drones will help it improve its customer service, increase its productivity, and reduce costs.
Amazon Robotics will work closely with Amazon’s other drone services, including Amazon Air, Amazon Echo, and Amazon Echo Dot, according to the announcement.
Amazon will also offer drone delivery to Amazon Prime members, and will partner with third-party drone companies to bring drone delivery for its Prime customers.
Amazon’s drone fleet is expected to cost about $2.4 million.
The purchase price is contingent on Amazon signing a 10-year, $25 billion contract with a drone maker.
